Whodathunkit?

Well certainly not I! Many years ago I went to a driving range. I stunk so bad I couldn’t even hit the balls, and I managed to do was chip my tooth from gritting my teeth.

Recently, however, there has been much talk of “meetings” on golf courses, all expenses paid and all that! Now, certainly I wouldn’t want to miss out on a big important meeting right :) So I began to entertain the idea of taking lessons. While on vacation, I learned that my sister had taken lessons so we hit the driving range for Intro To Golf 101. Its surprising what stance, and technique can accomplish! I wasn’t doing great, but at least I was hitting the ball!!

Well, needless to say, now I’m hooked! I’ve been to the driving range a couple of times now, and I’m actually getting better….significantly…every time! Its such a feeling of accomplishment, knowing that before the lesson I was a hopeless golfer.

I say to all of you out there…give it a shot! Word of advice…get some basic training, grip, stance, and technique, and expect to be pretty lousy in the beginning. Oh, and expect to be sore the next day! Golf uses muscles that you never even knew you had!

If any of you in the local area do ever take it up….let me know, maybe we can hit a course this summer :)

Another alphabet puzzle :)

Remember to put the word solution in your comment to answer. Any other comments (like questions) will post automatically (just don’t put the word solution in it ). Also when you do answer, it looks as though the comment posted…don’t worry, it hasn’t.

Dee Septor, the famous mind reader, says his job description can be summed up using just three letters of the alphabet. What letters are they?

I’m Back!

The vacation is over! I actually got back on the weekend and have already completed two days of work, but nonetheless I’m back! The final week of the vacation was non eventful, mostly hung out at home with my brother-in-law who was feeling out of sorts and called in sick. I did end up going to a local driving range and finally learned how to hit the ball, thanks to my sis :) Now golf actually interests me enough to try it out. On my last full day there, I actually pulled out a race track and set it up, just like when I was a kid :) That evening after we got home from dinner, we changed the track around and played with it to get max velocity out of the cars. Pictures pending…sorry…on my sister’s camera.

My travel day was just that…travel. My flight left at 8:30am, with a stop over in Philly, and I didn’t get home until midnight, to find Ver 1 was still waiting up for me…awww. I had to wake ver 2 up for some tylenol, but his reaction to my return was overpowered by his urge to sleep. Ver 3, found me in the morning…all beaming to see me…he’s still a daddy’s boy…don’t believe everything you read :).

The most interesting part of travel day, however, had to be my stop over in Philidelphia. As I got off the plane I saw a few eating places, which was good cuz I needed to eat lunch (or dinner depending which time zone I was using as a reference). I decided I better go find my departing gate first, then I can find some place to eat near there. What I saw then, absolutely blew me away. The airport was like a mall..and it was packed!!! I had a sit down lunch at T.G.I. Fridays, which was next to Swarovski, across from Sunglass Hut, and the Bose stores. Further down was Gap Women, and Brooks Brothers! There was even a spa! Needless to say, I was in no mood to shop at an airport, but it was somewhat tempting.

Airport pics: note the lady in the rocking chair in the 3rd pic. The chairs were everywhere, and 90% of them were occupied!

So I’m back by sister #1. The weather in the tropical state was a little cool, but that didn’t stop us from going out and enjoying the sunshine!

A couple pics

My eldest neice asking why there was a buoy in the water.

Give you an idea where I was. Although it was warmer in Toronto :)

They filled the horizon!

But alas, we left that tropical sunny weather to come back to this forecast.

Today we’re off to see my other sister. From what I’ve been told, its been very hot there (25-30 Celcius) all week, but now this weekend temperatures are expected to dip to somewhere in the high teens (its warmer in Toronto!!!). Not only that…where I am here, they are expecting 6 inches of snow over the weekend. Good thing I brought warm clothes!

Vacation - Week 1

Posted in Fun, Life, Random Stuff on April 17, 2008 by mousehunter

I’ve been spending most of the week just relaxing not doing much. On Monday my sister had the day off so she took me about a half hour away to see this:

When we arrived

Then the sun came out!!

We then went to a local outlet mall and from the parking lot I took this photo:

That frosting is actually a sprinkling of snow on trees!!!

The following day my brother in law scored some ballgame tickets so we went to a very exciting game. The home team managed to score in all but 2 innings. What a game!

As you can see from the person wearing a toque it was cold! Probably around 5 degrees celcius at the time.

I have more pics on facebook for those of you on my friends list.
